Halloween without Barbie or Iron Man?

SAG-AFTRA has advised actors to avoid dressing up as characters from struck films and TV shows for Halloween.

Instead, actors are encouraged to choose costumes inspired by generalized characters, such as ghosts, zombies, and spiders.

Actors are also advised not to post photos of costumes inspired by struck content on social media.

This is because SAG-AFTRA is currently on strike against the studios and does not want to give them any additional publicity.

Projects under an interim agreement with SAG-AFTRA are not considered struck and are therefore permissible for Halloween costumes.

For example, actors can dress up as Jacob Elordi's Elvis from A24's Priscilla, but not Austin Butler's Elvis from Warner Bros.' movie.

SAG-AFTRA and the studios have been in negotiations for a new contract, but their latest round of talks failed.

The union is urging its members to use their collective power to send a message to the studios that they will not promote their content without a fair contract.

The strike is ongoing and it is unclear when it will be resolved.
