"NFL's Best-Kept Secret: Geno Smith and Tavon Austin's Reunion!"

Tavon Austin, a college teammate of Geno Smith's, recently worked out with the Seattle Seahawks.

From 2009 to 2012, Tavon Austin and Geno Smith played together for the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Austin's visit to the Seahawks was first reported by NFL insider Aaron Wilson.

Tavon Austin was a wide receiver for the Florida Gators who excelled during his time in college. While at West Virginia,

Geno Smith played teammates Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey, both of whom were picked by the St. Louis (now Los Angeles) Rams in 2013.

Austin's last NFL season came in 2021 with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he played in 13 games and made three starts, finishing with 24 receptions

for 213 yards and one touchdown. In 2021, Austin spent time on the Buffalo Bills' practice squad until being released in October.

DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are the Seahawks' top wideouts right now, but the team lacks depth at the position.

Austin has the ability to help the Seahawks on special teams and give depth in the slot. Although it was unclear at the time of the report

whether or not Austin would join with the Seahawks, the significance of the move was boosted by Austin's history with Geno Smith.
